Trio Nagô were formed in Fortaleza-CE in 1950. Evaldo Gouvêia - born in Iguatu-EC - sang lead, played acoustic guitar and wrote most of their material; Mario Alves (born in 1914) and Epaminondas de Souza - who played the Conga drum - completed the trio.
